About Scenic Canyons

    Scenic Canyons Recreational Services was organized in 1995 to operate and maintain Forest Service-owned recreation facilities under a special-use permit from the Logan Ranger District.

    In 2001, Scenic Canyons obtained a special-use permit from the Montpelier Ranger District and began managing operations at Minnetonka Cave. In 2007, that permit was expanded to include campgrounds in St. Charles Canyon.

    In 2003, Scenic Canyons obtained a special-use permit from the Sawtooth Ranger District and began maintaining campgrounds and other recreational facilities on the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

    The company currently manages campgrounds on the Boise National Forest in Idaho, the Dixie National Forest in Utah, and the Carson National Forest in New Mexico.

    The company is owned equally by Dee L. Petersen, Bryce M. Petersen and Cliff I. Petersen.
