Barker Recreation Area is located in an aspen-spruce forest above 9,000 feet in elevation. The normal operating season is from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
The campground has 13 individual campsites, a day use area adjacent to Upper Barker Reservoir and three group sites. The group sites are known as Porter (capacity 35), Gates (capacity 35) and Old Lady Young (capacity 100).
The Day Use Area located at Upper Barker Reservoir has four picnic sites.
There is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out policy for garbage management at this campground; however, there is a dumpster located on Main Canyon Road. The campground is fully accessible.
Prices:
$10 for a single family site.
$5 for each extra vehicle.
$45 for use of group sites and the day-use area by groups up to 50.
$90 for use of Old Lady Young Group Site for groups of 51-100.
Reservations: The group area and several single sites can be reserved at www.recreation.gov.
Directions: From Escalante, Utah, drive 5 miles west on Highway 12, then turn right on the gravel
North Creek Lakes Road (Forest Road 149). The campground is approximately 16 miles up
