Columbine Campground is the largest of the campgrounds along the banks of the Red River, between Questa and Red River, N.M. It features several secluded camp sites nestled in groves of Ponderosa pine. Inside the campground there is a popular hiking and horsebacking trail that leads into the vast Wheeler Peak wilderness area, home to New Mexico's highest peak. Several sites fit large RVs, although there are no hook-ups or dump stations in the campground. There are also two accessible sites, which are reserved for persons with disabilities.

Directions: From Taos, N.M, drive 25 miles north on New Mexico State Road 522 to Questa, turn right on NM 38, then drive 5 miles east and the campground will be on the right. See map below.
Amenities: Vault toilets, pressurized drinking water, garbage service. Two toilets are accessible for people with disabilities.
Nearby: Fishing in the Red River, Fawn Lakes or Eagle Rock Lake, and hiking in the Wheeler Peak Wilderness.
