Devils’ Elbow Campground is located adjacent to the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River, with river access trails from the campground. It is located approximately 69 miles northeast of the city of Coeur d’Alene, ID.  Devil’s Elbow is in a wooded setting and consists of 20 individual campsites and a group site for up to 50 people and a maximum of 14 vehicles.  The elevation is 2,600 feet.

Reservations: Available at recreation.gov. The group site can be reserved one year prior to the first day of your camping stay. All other sites can be reserved 6 months prior to the first day of your camping stay.

Directions: From Coeur d’Alene, travel east on Interstate 90 to the Kingston Exit #43. Follow the paved Forest Service Road #9 north for 26 miles, then continue 14 miles north of the small town of Prichard on Forest Road #208. The campground will be on the right. (It is located approximately 3 miles north of Kit Price Campground).  See map below.

 

Open Dates: Opens on the Friday before Memorial Day. Closes on the last Monday in September at noon. For the most current season dates, please visit recreation.gov.

 

Amenities: Hand pumps for drinking water, vault toilets, trash collection.  Road and parking spurs are paved.

 

Nearby: Fishing, rafting, swimming and kayaking are favorite activities on the river. Rafters will find class I-III rapids further down the river.  Visitors can also explore the river valley on foot to see nearby Downey Creek or Valitons Creek.  The Shoshone RV dump station is 6 miles away. You can hike to Fern and Shadow Falls, which is about 3 miles from the campground.
