In 1941 the Owen family donated this piece of land to be used by the public to enjoy the various recreational activities the area has to offer. The past 82 years since have brought many families, friends, and community members together to enjoy the beautiful serene surroundings of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests and Lake Pend Oreille.
Sam Owen Campground is situated on the north east shore of Lake Pend Oreille in Hope, Idaho. Whether you are staying for the day or staying for a week you will be provided the chance to take in breathtaking lake views at sunrise and sunset and enjoy one of the many local hikes in the area. If spending your day hiking in the trees does not sound like your perfect vacation, then head down to the crystal clear lake where you can play in the water, rent a kayak or paddleboard, sunbathe on the rocks, fish, or launch your boat using the campgrounds boat launch and dock.
Our campsites are large and are the perfect spot to finish out your day with family and friends, telling stories and eating smores around the campfire. We sincerely hope you will consider visiting us this summer and look forward to hosting you in the near future!
You can reserve your spot for next summer by visiting recreation.gov. You can also learn more by visiting our Sam Owen page. Kayaks and paddleboards can be reserved ahead of time on this page of our website.
